We’ve designed UBlockout shades to work for any room or style. Our frames are painted aluminum and available in white or black. The fabric is available in a range of colors, including Winter White, Ivory Cream, Silver Gray, Slate Charcoal and Midnight Black. Windows come in all shapes and sizes.
They can have a ledge at the bottom (a ‘sill’) or a solid casing around the window opening (a ‘trim’). Some might have both a sill and trim. Other windows have no features at all (‘bare’). These window features may impact the most suitable mount type for you, or in some rare cases make your window unsuitable for a UBlockout shade. You'll be alerted to these limiting features during the order process.
Your window size may also impact your suitability for manual or motorized shades, as well as top to bottom or bottom to top orientation selection. Our order process will highlight these issues if they occur.

Our shades can be mounted inside or outside your window frame based on your style preference and window type:
- An inside mount fits within the window frame and most of the shade is flush with the wall.
- An outside mount fits around your window frame, the shade protruding from the wall.
You can integrate our SmartHub with virtual assistant devices including Google Home, Alexa, Siri and SmartThings.
SmartHub also integrates with existing smart bridges including Bond Bridge
Naming your windows according to the room and their position in the room helps with orientation during the production process and makes your installation process easier. It also helps our customer support specialists if you ever need to reach out for help.
UBlockout uses double-sided fabric colors for a uniform, sleek appearance on both the interior and exterior of your window.
For our Winter White or Ivory Cream fabrics, the color is the same on both sides.
Shades with Silver Gray or Slate Charcoal fabrics both feature a Silver Gray backing. Midnight Black shades have a Winter White backing.
Accurate window measurements are important to ensure your Ultimate Blackout Solution is fitted correctly and will perform at its best. Our measuring guide details how to measure your windows, no matter the size or shape.
Not sure about your measurements? You can add our Fit Guarantee during the order process and one of our specialists will arrange a video call to check your measurements and answer any other questions you might have. If there are any measurement-related installation issues, we'll provide you with a replacement shade.
If you’re not confident with your DIY abilities, we recommend contacting a local shades installer to ensure you get the perfect fit and ultimate darkness.
Windows come in all shapes and sizes.
It’s common for windows to be a little crooked and it’s not always obvious to the naked eye. Sometimes the top or bottom of your window frame could be slightly wider or narrower than expected. We call this being ‘out-of-square’.
We ask you to measure in three places for both height and width to check if UBlockout shades can fit your window space properly. If your window is uneven, there may be risks achieving 100% blackout and you could experience waving on your fabric.
If you are concerned about your window's uneven surface, we recommend having a profressional review fix your window before installing UBlockout.
Side Covers have a width of 1 (⅝)” and depth of 1 (⅜)”. The height depends on how tall your window space is. Each Left Frame and Right Frame have a Side Cover which protects the internal channel system, keeping your shade free from exposed cords.
The Top Frame has a depth of 2 (9/16)”. It holds the light blocking Fabric Roll in place.

There may be instances where changes result in additional fees, however, we strive to accommodate changes without incurring any extra charges whenever possible.
Absolutely - If you're concerned about the accuracy of your measurements you can select our Fit Guarantee during the order process. We'll help you get a great fit and answer any additional questions you might have over a video call, giving you peace of mind for your measurements.

All you need to install a UBlockout shade is common household tools, including:
- Philips head screwdriver
- Spirit level (or mobile app)
- Electric drill
You can install your shade on most surfaces including timber, plasterboard, and masonry.
We recommend pre-drilling in every instance. Timber and drywall surfaces can be pre-drilled with a small drill bit and you can fasten your shade with screws.
If you’re fixing your shade to masonry, we recommend using a power drill, a larger bit and wall plugs to securely fasten your shade with screws.
We’ve designed our UBlockout shades for easy measurement and installation, no matter your DIY skill level. To safeguard your order, you can add on our Fit Guarantee and we'll arrange a video call with you to triple-check your measurements. If there are any measurement-related issues during installation after this, we'll provide you with a replacement shade.
Still not confident in your DIY skills or simply don't have the time? We recommend getting in touch with a local, professional shades installer to ensure you get the right fit.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express credit cards and debit cards. We cannot accept checks or money orders. Other payment options are currently in the works.
Yes! UBlockout shades can be purchased with HSA/FSA.
At checkout, select "Pay with HSA/FSA" and you'll be redirected to Flex to complete your purchase. You'll need to complete a quick health survey for eligibility confirmation, then pay using your HSA/FSA card or a credit card for later reimbursement.
Eligibility depends on your specific plan's guidelines.
We want you to experience the best possible blackout, and that means offering refunds and returns where applicable.
If you receive a defective or misdescribed product, you may return it within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, including original delivery charges and reasonable return shipping costs.
If you don’t love your UBlockout shades, you may return them within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. Refunds will be issued for the full purchase amount, excluding any additional shipping costs, duties, or taxes incurred.
To initiate a return, please notify UBlockout in writing via email at support@ublockout.com or through online chat. UBlockout will provide return shipping labels and instructions to return the product.
Please note:
- Refunds will be applied upon arrival and inspection of the returned goods.
- Refunds will be issued to the original credit or debit card used for payment.
- Free returns are not available for oversize shades outside of our standard sizing range.
- Free returns are not available for orders delivered outside the continental USA.
- Free returns do not apply to commercial orders.
- Free returns do not apply to orders of 5 or more shades (We recommend ordering a test shade, risk-free with Fit Guarantee, prior to a large order).
- UBlockout reserves the right to charge a restocking fee of up to 50% if the product is returned damaged or in an unsellable condition.

Our UBlockout shades are an Australian design, cut-to-measure and assembled in the United States. Some plastic parts are supplied by manufacturers in China, but all final assembly is completed in the US.
We ship to the United States, including continental USA, Alaska, Hawaii and US territories.
Unfortunately, we are not able to ship to FPO/APO.
We’re delighted to offer free shipping to our customers in the mainland USA, for shade orders where both width and height are under 90".
Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii and US territories will incur a fee, calculated at checkout.
Our team is working hard to process orders as quickly as possible while maintaining high-quality standards.
