The shade sits around the window opening.
Please note, Outside Mount has a maximum width and height of 96"

You need at least 1" of free recess space
This is window space that is clear from obstructions.
What are obstructions?
Check for common obstructions
Some obstructions can stop a shade from fully closing or achieving 100% blackout and light filtering performance. These can be found anywhere inside the window opening, including the sides and on the window itself.

Inside Mount not right for you?

Your window needs to be as even as possible - not 'out of square'
We encourage you to take measurements for width and height from three different locations.
If any of those measurements of width or height vary by more than one quarter inch (1/4") your window may be out of square.
Your window being out of square may risk the ability to achieve 100% blackout.

Your options are still open, even if you don't have enough free recess space. If you're still as committed to 100% blackout as we are, an Outside Mount might be the right fit for you.

DOES UBlockout WORK WITH SLIDING DOORS?
UBlockout is compatible with some sliding doors
To install UBlockout shades on a sliding door, there are a few specifications that need to be adhered to.
Less than 98" width
Less than 98" height
No skirting boards and floor is level
Solid structure on all four sides
Fixtures and fittings removed
At least 1" of free recess space*

Your window depth decides the install position
The depth of the shade is 2 (9/16)".
'Overhang' can happen if your free recess space is smaller.

Can the shade be mounted to windows with existing fixtures and fittings?
Yes, our shades are often installed behind curtains, plantation shutters or other existing window furnishings, depending on mount type and positioning.

What's your returns policy?

Egress Risk
Customers should evaluate and consider the specific safety risks associated with the suitability of UBlockout shades for their particular environment and circumstances.
UBlockout shades are retrofittable and retractable and are offered in inside and outside mount configurations. The specific dimensions and specifications of the shades are provided on our website. Installation of a UBlockout shade may obstruct or delay entry or exit from a window or door in the event of an emergency or otherwise.
Installing UBlockout in addition to existing blinds/shades may further obstruct or delay entry or exit.
Motorized shades have an inherently increased obstruction risk as they will not function without the motor being charged and the remote or smart control app functioning.
