Before ordering UBlockout shades for your sliding door, consider the following:
- Size: It's important to assess whether your sliding door falls within the specified dimensions. Max Height: (100”), Max Width: (90")
- Orientation: We only recommend Top to Bottom shades for sliding doors.
- Mounting Options: Determine whether your sliding door is recessed (inside mount) or if an outside mount around the door opening is more feasible for your space.
- Obstructions: Check for any potential obstructions that may impact the closure of the shade, ensuring smooth operation.
- Bottom Frames: Bottom frames can pose a tripping hazard. Note that the bottom frame can be removed in this case.
- Sealing: Ensure your sliding door fully seals when closed to maintain optimal light control and privacy.

We've designed UBlockout shades to work for any room or style. Our frames are painted aluminum and available in white or black. The fabric is available in a range of colors, including Winter White, Ivory Cream, Silver Gray, Slate Charcoal and Midnight Black. Our shades can be mounted inside or outside your window frame based on your style preference and window type:
An inside mount fits within the window frame and most of the shade is flush with the wall. We recommend selecting an inside mount if your window has a decorative trim around the frame and/or very little space above the frame.
An outside mount fits around your window frame, the shade protruding from the wall. We recommend selecting an outside mount if your window opens inwards and/or has a narrow window depth.
Naming your windows according to the room and their position in the room helps with orientation during the production process and makes your installation process easier. It also helps our customer support specialists if you ever need to reach out for help.
Once ordered, there is still time to adjust your order or measurements before we begin production. Please email our support team at support@ublockout.com to make changes to your order.

You can install your shade on most surfaces including timber, drywall, metal and masonry.
We recommend pre-drilling in every instance. Timber and drywall surfaces can be pre-drilled with a small drill bit and you can fasten your shade with screws.
If you’re fixing your shade to masonry, we recommend using a power drill, a larger bit and wall plugs to securely fasten your shade with screws.
To prepare, you’ll need a:
- Phillips-head (crosshead) screwdriver
- Spirit level (or mobile app)
- Power drill
- Step ladder (optional)
- Two people for an inside mount; or three people for an outisde mount and windows wider than 5 feet
We recommend you enlist a handy friend for an extra pair of hands.

Motorized shades can be controlled by remote or smart phone when you upgrade with SmartHub. Our motor is battery-powered and a full charge will last you up to six months. This means you won't need an electrician to install a UBlokcout shade, it's truly DIY.
With the UBlockout SmartHub you can operate your motorized shade by voice commands of your choosing as well as your mobile device.
You can integrate our SmartHub with virtual assistant devices like Google Home and Amazon Alexa.

This remote control is only compatible with our motorized UBlockout shades.

No, the motorized shades will not operate without the remote control.
Channel 0 (zero) operates all channels paired to the remote.
Simply press the up button to open all paired shades to their saved upper limits. To close all shades to their saved lower limit, press the down button.

When pulling or retracting the shade, always hold the frame securely from the middle. Operating the shade from the corners or edges may cause the shade to roll unevenly, damaging the fabric or the mechanism inside the shade roll cassette. To avoid damage, do not have the shade down while your window is open.
