Six easy steps
Accurate measurements are key to a perfect fit. Follow these steps carefully and if you need help, our team is a video call away.
Step 1: Check your available space
Inside mount needs 1" recess depth. Outside mount needs 3" of flat surface.
Step 2: Measure your width
Use a metal tape measure to find the shortest width at three points across your window.
Step 3: Measure your height
Measure the shortest height at three points down your window.
Step 4: Check your window is within ¼″ square
Inside mount only. Compare diagonal measurements to catch any issues before ordering.
Check your window opening
Inside mount: check for obstructions inside the window recess. Outside mount: confirm you have enough flat surface around the window.
Step 6: Record your measurements
Write down your final width and height, rounded down to the nearest 1/16th.

Step 1: Remove Side Frame Covers
Take off the side covers from the side frames.
Step 2: Assemble Top Frame
Connect the top frame to the corners of each side frame.
Step 3: Assemble Bottom Frame
Slide the bottom frame to the base of each side frame and fix it securely.
Step 4: Transfer, level and fix frame
Mount the frame in your window recess, ensure its level and fix it securely with a drill.
Step 5: Install Fabric Roll
Place the fabric roll into the top frame and side frame corners.
Step 6: Attach pulley string
Loop the cords that control your shade onto the handrail of the fabric roll.
Step 7: Attach Side Frame Covers
Clip the side covers back onto the each side frame.
Step 8: Release rotation locks
Unlock the shade fabric so it can move freely.
Step 9: Install Roller Cover
Clip the cover onto the top of the frame.
Step 10: Experience complete blackout
Lower your shade and experience total darkness.

Step 01
Take off the side covers
Pull the covers off both side frames.
Step 02
Join the top frame on
Connect the top frame to the corner of each side frame.
Step 03
Join the bottom frame on
Slide the bottom frame onto the base of each side frame and fix it in place.
Step 04
Fix the frame into your window
Hold the frame in your window recess, check it is level, then screw it in.
Step 05
Drop in the fabric roll
Sit the fabric roll into the top frame and the side frame corners.
Step 06
Hook on the cords
Loop the cords that raise and lower the shade onto the bar at the bottom of the roll.
Step 07
Clip the side covers back on
Clip the covers back onto each side frame.
Step 08
Unlock the fabric
Flip the two locks so the fabric can move freely.
Step 09
Clip on the roller cover
Clip the last cover onto the top of the frame.
Step 10
Lower it and you’re done
Pull the shade down. That is the whole job.

Two measurements, a metal tape, under five minutes a window. Get these three things right and every shade we make fits.
1″ recess depth
Measured from the front edge of the recess, furthest from the glass. That’s all the shade needs to seal every edge.
Check for obstructions
Winders, locks, latches and handles sit inside the recess. Find anything that sticks out before you measure around it.
Measure the width
Find the shortest measurement. If in doubt, always round down to the nearest 16th of an inch.
Measure the height
Down three points, top to bottom. Take the shortest and round down the same way.
Check the opening is square
Inside mount only. Compare the two diagonals — within ¼″ of each other and you are good to order.

3 Motorized Blackout Shades
We bought three motorized blackout shades and they fit and function perfectly. This is our second order. Our first order was also three shades. Every room that has these as pitch black when the shades are closed. A bit pricey, but well worth it!
Great Product
Great product, works as advertised with zero light coming in. Well built with precision. Word of caution on the sizing. We had a new home build and I ordered too soon to get the fit guarantee bc I didn’t have internet/web cam available at the house yet. If you’re a new build it’s best to wait till you get the keys and internet so you can do proper sizing on the frames. Each shade takes about 20 mins to install, fairly straightforward
A Game-Changing Solution
I've only had it for a couple of weeks, but it has dramatically improved the quality of my sleep. The shade itself has been excellent. The light blocking was so complete that I became aware for the first time just how much light was coming in at night from other rooms and device indicator lights within my home. Thankfully, my package came with two sheets of LED stickers, which were put to good use. The app also has been very useful. I have timers set so that at sundown it automatically closes, and at 8AM it opens back up so I can start waking up more naturally. The installation was fairly quick and easy. The instructions were clear, and despite it being a large window, I was able to do it on my own. Installing the motorized shade portion at the end by myself was admittedly a little dicey, so getting someone to help with that step might be necessary for some. These shades aren't cheap, but I absolutely got my money's worth and don't regret the purchase for a second. I'll likely be getting another one down the road.

Amazing, Complete Blackout
My wife and I are both shift workers so we were searching for 100% blackout blinds. We started with two for our master and they worked phenomenally. We have a sliding door in our master and thought maybe we could put one on there also. We just installed it and it is impossible to tell if it is day or night time in that room.
